Marvel Now 2017 & Post The Clone Conspiracy Spoilers: Ben Reilly Scarlet Spider #1 & TWO Spider-Man Costumes?

News, Spoilers, Top Story

First Marvel reveals two Steve Rogers: Captain America green Captain Hydra costumes for and before Secret Empire‘s launch, with one being an error, and now Ben Reilly: Scarlet Spider also has two costumes inflicted on him, one that Marvel insists was not an error, before the new series’ debut.

Marvel Now 2017 & Post Amazing Spider-Man The Clone Conspiracy Spoilers follow for Ben Reilly Scarlet Spider #1 and beyond.

Ben Reilly returned to Marvel during Amazing Spider-Man Dead No More event The Clone Conspiracy. However he was the new Jackal.

Then with the end of Clone Conspiracy this is the last we saw of Ben Reilly.

However, prior to end of the Clone Conspiracy, Marvel announced a new Ben Reilly: Scarlet Spider series featuring a brand new costume for our protagonist.

Social media erupted with the majority of fans seemingly pleased to have Ben Reilly back as the Scarlet Spider, but hating the costume particularly the fact that the mask was so thin his smile and facial expressions would be evident and the redundant hood.

Marvel countered with a version of the costume with no smile evident, but the hood still in place.

And now Marvel has announced that Ben Reilly will have a different Scarleyt Spider costume, more classic in nature, by the end of the initial arc of his new Marvel Now 2017 series.

Marvel insists this was always their creative plan.

So, with a throwback costume on the horizon, but first a panned newer costume, Marvel makes no one happy. I share the smile and hood concerns of the newest costume, but the classic costume seems dated. Marvel really can’t do better creatively for a Ben Reilly Scarlet Spider costume?
