10 Thoughts on NXT – Tyler Bate, Authors of Pain, Ember Moon

10 Thoughts, Reviews, Top Story

  1. It’s NXT time and we kick off with Paul Ellering and tag champs the Authors of Pain taking on a couple of jobbers who don’t even get an intro. AOP win with the Last Chapter and look dominant in a meaningless squash. Welcome back to 1985!
  2. Tyler Bate package next, and he’s 19 years old and from Dudley. Not Dudleyville, mind you, but Dudley. If this guy can get himself over in NXT then can Marty Scurll be far behind?
  3. Our next match is the Aussie Mean Girls Billie Kay and Peyton Royce taking on Liv Morgan and her mystery partner… Ember Moon! The mean girls pick up the win with a nasty double team on Morgan after an entertaining match.
  4. Recap of Sanity’s pursuit of Tye Dillinger and the formation of the unlikely team of Dillinger, No Way Jose and Roderick Strong. Interview with Roddy and Jose, who don’t like bullying. So they’re good guys then.
  5. Now it’s time for DIY to talk, which is not as good as DIY wrestling but I guess beggars can’t be choosers. Ellering and AOP come out and set a title match for two weeks time, then the Revival jump DIY from behind and AOP make the save. What the what?
  6. Trent Seven talks about British Strong Style, and he needs to cut down on the pies if he’s going to make it in the WWE.
  7. Kassius Ohno is back, and why oh why couldn’t they just call him Chris Hero? Everyone else gets to use their ‘real’ name…
  8. Next week it’s a triple threat for the NXT women’s title, and could we see the beginning of the reign of Ember Moon?
  9. As a main event, Tyler Bate vs Trent Seven is an excellent display of British style, but I spend half the match wondering how long until Tyler is saddled with the inevitable ‘Master Bate’ gimmick. Bate picks up the win with the Tyler Driver 97.
  10. Pretty much a filler episode of NXT setting up a couple of interesting matches for the near future.
