DC Comics Rebirth Spoilers & Review: Kyle Rayner Rebirth In Hal Jordan & The Green Lantern Corps #17 As Mr. Oz / The Watchmen Watch?

Spoilers, Top Story

DC Comics Rebirth Spoilers and Review for Hal Jordan and The Green Lantern Corps #17 follow.

Hal Jordan and The Green Lantern Corps #17 opens with Hal Jordan telling Kyle Rayner that he is the best Lantern around while Hal in an arrogant way, probably despite writer’s intent, indicates he’s the top Green Lantern though.

Ganthet and Sayd, the Guardians of the Blue Light of the emotional spectrum, want the White Lantern Kyle Rayner to resurrect the Blue Lantern Corps as the universe will need them for what comes next; presumably the Watchmen Rebirth later in 2017 that pits DC Rebirth characters against Doctor Manhattan of the Watchmen.

We also get a brief retelling of Ganthet’s role in giving Kyle Rayner the Green Lantern ring after / during Emerald Twilight. It carries onto in the next page.

Saint Walker volunteers to be the conduit to channel Kyle Rayner’s White Lantern powers to resurrect the Blue Lantern Corps.

However, something, someone is barring the recreation of the Blue Lantern Corps…

…and Kyle Rayner is drained of the White Light of life…

…as Ganthet and Sayd wonder who could have barred the Blue Lantern Corp resurrection as that should have been impossible.

Doctor Manhattan of the Watchmen maybe? Seems likely.

The White Ring is drained and Kyle Rayner now must search for a new role in the universe as Mr. Oz, who many believe to be Ozymandias of the Watchmen, watches on.

The White Lantern ring breaks out into its component emotional spectrum ring parts. The other rings from the various lights go off to find new bearers while the green light of will and its Green Lantern ring claims Kyle Rayner.

Kyle Rayner embraces the Green Lantern ring and…

…his role as a Green Lantern again…

…wearing his most iconic and classic look!

So…

Another issue on stands today with some comic book science and comic book logic that might be a bit convoluted, but an entertaining issue nonetheless with breathtaking art. 7 out of 10.
