Inside Pulse WWE Monday Night Raw Scorecard for 04.03.2017

Columns, Top Story

WWE had a huge post-Wrestlemania 33 episode of Monday Night Raw jam packed with surprises and awesomeness. How did the Pulse Wrestling team rate the show?

Michael

An episode of Raw that focused on in-ring action? An episode of Raw which had minimal backstage skits and sketches? An episode of Raw where Roman Reigns was booed mercilessly? An episode of Raw where the crowd turned the PG era into an R-rated chant-fest? An episode of Raw where Kurt Angle was able to make everyone laugh? An episode of Raw where Emma returned? An episode with a cool visual in a staredown between Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman? An episode of Raw which featured Beach Ball Mania? An episode of Raw which featured Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe, Seth Rollins, and Finn Balor in the main event? What’s not to like? Let me repeat – Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe, Seth Rollins, and Finn Balor were in the main event. If only this could have been last night. One day, maybe Vince will realize the times, they are a-changin’.

My Raw and Smackdown Live viewing consists of PVR’ing the shows and then fast forwarding to only the parts I’d like to watch. Kurt Angle’s GM moments were entertaining and fun(ny); “that’s not how you spell soft” for example. WWE also keeping the Hardyz from speaking on Raw has fans really waiting to see which Hardyz are the Raw Tag Team Champion, the OGs or the Broken, plus it stokes all the Delete chants. Yes, they’ve spoken for content on the WWE Network, but not at Wrestlemania or “free TV” Raw… yet. Roman Reigns basking in boos, his 5 word monologue, plus mike drop has fans still wondering what’s next for him; heel or face? It seems from later in the ep that we’ll get Strowman vs. Reigns II before one of them go on to face Lesnar. Also interesting to note that there are two men on the Raw roster who still have 1-on-1 rematch clauses for the Universal title; I’m curious when Finn Balor and Kevin Owens will seek their shots at that title. Great main event pitting two sets of former NXT champions against each other; the new Era is here. Despite some interesting debuts like the Revival decimating all 3 members of New Day, I give the show a 6.5 out of 10. I was hoping for more surprises from the Raw after Mania, but it was the most fresh feeling Raw in month without Stephani McMahon, Triple h and Mick Foley.

I’m going to give RAW a 9. It wasn’t perfect. It there were a lot of exciting returns, funny but not over the top moments, and some good matches. A lot of potential started. Great crowd after Wrestlemania. It’s almost a shame the RAW after Mania is better than Mania.
