Homicide: Life On the Street comes complete on 4th of July

Disc Announcements, News

Before The Wire, Baltimore was already on the crime tv radar with the critically acclaimed Homicide: Life On the Street. Coincidentally the series was based on the book Homicide: Life On the Killing Streets by David Simon, the creator of The Wire. This series is the father of The Wire. The show picked up the level of quality previously found on Hill Street Blues. The show was all about Charm City as they filmed all over the place. There were stories about independent film crews that would lie to the police that they were shooting B-roll for Homicide to get out of being fined for filming without a permit. The show is also the birthplace of Richard Belzer playing John Munch. After seven seasons, he transferred over to Law & Order: SVU. Belzer played Munch for 23 years. Homicide did a few crossovers with Law & Order as great must see events on NBC. Now all seven seasons are getting boxed up for Homicide: Life On the Streets – The Complete Series. It comes out on 4th of July so you can pick up a boxset along with your fireworks. Here’s the press release from Shout! Factory about the release:
