DC Comics Rebirth & Lazarus Contract Aftermath Spoilers & Review: Deathstroke #20 Unveils Surprising “Dark” New Teen Titans “Defiance”?!

Spoilers, Top Story

This is where the Deathstroke series is heading with the next issue of Deathstroke.

Deathstroke #20, a Lazarus Contract epilogue or aftermath issue, begins to show us how we get there.

DC Comics Rebirth and Lazarus Contract Aftermath for Deathstroke #20 follows.

The book opens with a bit of a retell of the story of Dr. Ikon, a doomed super-hero, tied to Deathstroke aka Slade Wilson’s past and that of his son Jericho aka Joseph Wilson.

He went from normal looking human super-hero to an augmented monstrous behemoth.

He has woken from his slumber or coma and heads out… somewhere.

We pivot to Joseph Wilson in a support group; as he’s mute he uses his superpowers to speak through the group’s nun. Joseph feels terribly about things his done including…

…maiming his sister Rose Wilson aka the Ravager.

Deathstroke #20 wraps up with Dr. Ikon going into a compound that includes costumes like the ones that Deathstroke’s New Teen Titans team called Defiance will wear starting next issue and…

…the Defiance team, sans Wally West Kid Flash, ready to rumble.

Is that Adeline Kane, Deathstroke’s ex-wife and mother to his children, on the team?

So…

Overall, an interesting issue. Not as action-packed as you’d expect fpr this title. I didn’t get the Power Girl aka Tanya Spears subplot and birth control, but beyond that I enjoined he rest of the issue. Art was decent. 7 out of 10.
