Dan O’Bannon is an icon of sci-fi films. He first made note as co-writer and effects creator of John Carpenter’s Dark Star. His work on the ill-fated Dune directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky. Although things looked bleak when the project fell apart, O’Bannon struck gold when sofa surfing at Ronald Shusett’s place as the duo wrote Alien. He would go on to work on the scripts for Heavy Metal, Total Recall Life Force and Blue Thunder. After directing The Return of the Living Dead, it was a while before O’Bannon got the chance to directed. The Resurrected allow O’Bannon to work in the world of H.P. Lovecraft. The film had more of a life as a VHS rental title in the ’90s. The film stars Robert Romanus, best loved as Damone in Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
