The Flash #33 and part one of the Dark Nights Metal tie-in Bats out of Hell arc opens with a recap of what’s been happening in Dark Nights Metal for the last 3 months…

We also recap the four mission teams out there looking for more Nth Metal to defeat Barbatos and his Dark Knights…

…and those missions have mot gone well with the Cyborg / Batman amalgam from the Dark Multiverse, the Murder Marchine, sending them via a dark boom tube elsewhere…

…then he and the Doomsday / Batman dark amalgam the Devastator set their sights on the Flash and Steel!

The Devastator actually destroys the huge tuning fork that Batman had stashed in Superman’s Fortress of Solitude trapping Superman and Batman in the Dark Multiverse.

Instead of being taken against his will, the Flash willing travels through the Murder Machine’s boom tube and…

…seemingly ends up the Dark Multiverse where he sees either his possible future and past or that of the dark Batman / Flash amalgam the Red Death.

He then turns up in a dark place with one half of ther missione teams: Aquaman, Hal Jordan Green Lantern and Wonder Woman with their mission partners missing as…

…the Batman Who Laughs, a dark amalgam of Batman and the Joker…

…pits them against his and/or Barbatos’ Dark Knights!
