Actor Zachary Levi has been cast to play Captain Marvel a.k.a. Shazam in the DC Comics Cinematic Universe’s Shazam film.
The actor played Chuck Bartowski on the Chuck TV series of the same name for 5 seasons from 2007 to 2012.
He also played in the short-lived Heroes Reborn TV series in 2015-16.
Zachary Levi also plays Asgardian Fandral
No word on who will play Captain Marvel / Shazam’s alter ego of child Billy Batson.
In recent years the Shazam / Marvel Family has expanded.
They have been at odds with Black Adam aka Teth Adam in the comics…
…who will be played by Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson and is not expected to be the standalone Shazam film, but his own Black Adam film.
I hope this diverse iteration of the Captain Marvel / Shazam Family is the one we’ll eventually see on the silver screen.
