Marvel’s Black Panther To Pounce On Blu-ray This May

Disc Announcements, News

After setting and surpassing records at the box office and becoming a cultural phenomenon, Marvel Studios’ Black Panther will bring its action and powerful message to digital and streaming platforms on May 8th. The following week, those who prefer hard-copy media will be able to purchase it on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD.

Those with the benefit of surround sound and 4K players and televisions will get to see T’Challa and his Wakanda brethren with high dynamic range (HDR) visuals and Dolby Atmos. Those who want to learn more about the production, you will be pleased. There is an audio commentary track from writer/director Ryan Coogler; deleted scenes; outtakes; and making-of featurettes that cover the production – from the evolution of the character, to the women of Wakanda, as well as a roundtable discussion with Coogler and fellow writers.

In Black Panther, T’Challa returns home to the hidden high-tech African nation of Wakanda to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king, following the death of his father. But when a man named Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) appears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he’s drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Pitted against his own family, the king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and embrace his future as an Avenger.
