DC Comics Universe Spoilers: Is The Flash War NOT About Barry Allen Vs. Wally West, But Hunter Zolomon Vs. Eodbard Thawne (Zoom Vs. Reverse Flash)? UPDATED

News

ORIGINAL:

Wondercon 2018 and DC Comics Universe Spoilers follows.

Current The Flash writer and upcoming Justice League Odyssey writer Joshua Williamson teased Flash War as noted below.

[Joshua] Williamson said that he and Tom King would ask fans at signings who their favorite Flash was, and they were shocked how many people would say Reverse Flash…

…It will be revealed in the book that Hunter Zolomon is still alive and has been manipulating events in the book for a long time. Motivated by tragedy, Zolomon thinks the most tragic think that could happen is Barry and Wally fighting.

Is the Flash War NOT about Barry Allen vs. Wally West over the mantle of the Flash, but Hunter Zolomon aka Zoom vs. Eobard Thawne aka the Reverse Flash? Hunter Zolomon has already returned….

…wearing the Reverse Flash’s suit and not his Rebirth era black Flash Zoom suit.

UPDATE:

Thanks to poster Dirtypoolfilms, the above image was identified to be a fan redo of the actual New 52 Professor Zoom Eobard costume which actually looked like this and was not all-black.

Thanks DPF for the correction and help in locating unaltered page.

Also, in addition to Eobard Thawne and Hunter Zolomon, Daniel West – the brother of Iris West and uncle to the younger Wally West (Kid Flash) – was “a” Reverse Flash in the New 52 with a different costume still.

Will he show up in Flash War? Hmmm.

ORIGINAL CONTINUED:

This is how Eobard Thawne looked as Reverse Flash in the last arc he was a part of.

And, he very clearly believes there is only ONE Reverse Flash.

That said, if Hunter Zolomon was around from the beginning of Rebirth than he knows about Eobard Thawne’s machinations and either let it happen or enabled it.

Williamson’s comments were made in the context of the Flash War, but are not 100% clear. We’ll just have to continue reading the Flash to find out.

Although, here is a DC Comics 101 that differentiates the two.
