ABC Cancels Priyanka Chopra’s Quantico As Season 3 Debuts and No NBC News On Abigail Spencer’s Timeless Season 3 Renewal Yet.

Actresses Priyanka Chopra and Abigail Spencer anchor different TV show dramas on different networks, with the fate of one of their shows being known and the other still on the bubble. What do these actress have in common though? Well, they are both friends of Meghan Markle, the new Duchess of Sussex, and were attendees with other Markle close friend Janina Gavankar, topping many best dressed lists, at the Royal Wedding between Markle and Prince Harry.

Anyhow, onto their respective TV shows.

Deadline reports:

After last week’s cancellation of Quantico, ABC has announced that the terrorism drama will finish out its third and final season on Friday nights.

Starting on May 25, Quantico will make its move from Thursday nights to Friday nights at 8 PM. The drama starring Priyanka Chopra is one of many ABC shows that got the ax last week. The ousted list includes Deception, The Crossing, Alex, Inc. as well as Kevin (Probably) Saves the World, The Mayor, Ten Days in the Valley and Marvel’s Inhumans.

Quantico, from ABC Studios and producer Mark Gordon, was a breakout when it debuted in fall 2015, setting delayed viewing lift records. But with its dense narrative and heavy serialization, the series started to lose momentum in the second half of its first season and continued to see declines though Season 2 and into Season 3.

It came down-to-the-wire last May for the drama series when it scored a last-minute abbreviated Season 3 renewal with a reduced license fee and new creative under a new showrunner.

While not a big linear ratings performer, especially in Live+Same Day, Quantico has done well in delayed viewing and has been a solid international seller for ABC Studios, fueled in part by the global popularity of its star Chopra. Additionally, from a financial stand point, it is particularly painful for the studio when a series is canceled after 3 seasons.

Created by Joshua Safran, the ABC terrorism drama starred Chopra as Alex Parrish. The cast also included Jake McLaughlin, Johanna Braddy, Russell Tovey, Alan Powell, Marlee Matlin, and Blair Underwood.

Forbes reports:

But for fans of Timeless, NBC’s time-traveling drama that just wrapped up its second season on a gigantic cliffhanger, the network may be more goat than great. NBC has yet to decide if Timeless is canceled or renewed, which is unusual at this point in the season. Most shows learn their fate at their network’s upfront presentation.

Yet NBC declined to make a decision on Timeless, saying it was still weighing its options.
