Columns, Top Story

Welcome to Image Rundown!

Here’s a quick look at everything Image Comics is releasing this week, with highlights and quick reviews for new series and collected editions as well as good jumping-on points for new readers. Let’s get started!

New Series and Highlights

Death or Glory #2  – Rick Remender and Bengal’s new hit continues this week, and in case you missed the first issue there is a second printing out, too. Glory deals with the events of last issue and considers what to do next since her main problem doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, let alone the hole in her side. And things get weird with a handful of peppers.

Eternal Empire #9 – The penultimate issue of Sarah Vaughn and Jonathan Luna’s latest series! If you’re enjoying this, check out their other recent hit Alex + Ada, a personal favorite of mine.

Moonstruck #6 – The second arc begins for this new fan-favorite series! If you need a title to fill the lesbian/werewolf/romance-adventure category in your long boxes, this is the one for you.

Paper Girls #21 – The fifth arc of Brian K Vaughan and Cliff Chiang’s hit series! The girls may yet survive Y2K but head further away from their intended destination.

The Walking Dead #180 – “New World Order” concludes.

Continuing Series

  • Black Science #36
  • The Gravediggers Union #7
  • Isola #3
  • Medieval Spawn/Witchblade #2
  • Prism Stalker #4
  • Scales & Scoundrels #10
  • Spawn #286

Collected Editions & OGNs

Black Road: The Holy North HC – A deluxe edition of issues #1-10 of Brian Wood and Garry Brown’s series.

No. 1 With A Bullet TPB – An all too likely future through technology, though it’s really not too far off from modern times. Nash Huang had her life turned upside-down when an extremely private moment was leaked online, but it’s only the beginning of no-good, very bad day. The writing is excellent as we’re taken through every moment of Nash’s reactions to the events she has no control over, and the art is fantastic, particularly Jen Hickman’s coloring.

Red Hook Vol. 01 New Brooklyn TPB – Dean Haspiel’s award-winning webseries hits print for the first time!

Ringside Vol. 03 TPB – Collecting issues #11-15.
