DC Universe Streaming Service Eyeing Kelsey Grammer For Doom Patrol DC TV Series.

The Hashtag Show reports:

DC’s Streaming Service Courting Kelsey Grammer to Lead ‘DOOM PATROL’

With its streaming service set to launch in August, DC is hard at work on Titans, the first of its planned live-action series. Spinning out of Titans will be Doom Patrol, a group of super hero outcasts made up of Elasti-Girl, Robotman, Negative Man, Crazy Jane and Cyborg and led by Dr. Niles Caulder, aka The Chief. Last month, Revenge of the Fanboy revealed a character description for The Chief and now it seems that the creative team has set their sights on Kelsey Grammer as the man to bring Dr. Caulder to life.

Here’a a look at the breakdown as it appeared on RotF:

Eccentric, brilliant, paternal, and mysterious. The Chief is a noted scientist, wealthy investor and, of course, leader of The Doom Patrol. The Chief rescued each member of his team from horrific accidents, nurtured them to health, resuscitated their self-esteem and sent them into the world to defend a populace that sees them as little more than freaks. His disarming manner does little to conceal a steely determination and unwavering devotion to defending Earth from Evil’s oddest entities.

      .
The timing of the interest in Grammer is of note as Titans is still filming, giving Grammer, or whoever they end up landing as The Chief, time to make an appearance on that show which will work as a bit of a backdoor pilot for Doom Patrol. It’s possible that the Doom Patrol is at least partially functional as a unit when Titans kicks off, given that Elasti-Girl (played by April Bowlby) will be appearing on Titans.
