  • Farmhand #1 – I hadn’t realized how much I’ve missed Chew, the terrific Image series, until I saw art from Farmhand, which is written and drawn by Rob Guillory, the Chew artist. This looks like a fun series, on a familiar theme.
  • Relay #1 – I didn’t like the FCBD zero issue that previewed this series, but writer Zac Thompson has really impressed me lately, so I might check this out.

I’m also looking forward to new issues of Aliens: Dust to Dust (finally), Resident Alien, Black Science, Oblivion Song, Port of Earth, Daredevil, Darth Vader, Punisher, and Bloodshot Salvation.

Quite a few series getting relaunched this week…

  • SUPERMAN #1 – While I did think the passing was a bit slow, I really enjoyed Bendis’s THE MAN OF STEEL. He seemed to have a strange connection to Superman continuity, and the characters felt right. I know a lot of people are down on Bendis at times, but I think he’s off to a great start in DC.
  • AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1 – Now with Nick Spencer!!! I loved Spencer’s work on SUPERIOR FOES OF SPIDER-MAN and CAPTAIN AMERICA. As much as I liked Dan Slott’s run, it was really time for a change, and Nick Spencer is the perfect choice to replace him. Can’t wait to see what he can do with Spider-Man!!
  • X-23 #1 – I really hate that they reverted Laura back to a book called X-23. She was awesome as Wolverine. It seems like this book will continue in the same vein as ALL-NEW WOLVERINE, so this is more of a marketing shift, but it still feels like a step backwards to me.
  • LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN: THE TEMPEST #1 – Alan Moore can be a bit hit or miss for me, but I absolutely love his LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN. Supposedly this is not only the last LXG story, but also IDW is also promoting it as Alan Moore and Kevin O’Neill’s last ever comic works. Whether that is true or not, I am definitely curious about this series.
  • Lots of Uncle Scrooge this week! DUCKTALES #10, UNCLE SCROOGE #36, and WALT DISNEY SHOWCASE #3 (featuring the Beagle Boys). Uncle Scrooge is by far my favorite Disney character, so I am really looking forward to all these books from IDW.
  • RELAY #1 – This new series from Aftershock looks like real hardcore sci-fi. It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to enjoy some great new sci-fi, so I am really hoping this book will satisfy that itch.
