Mae Young Classic favorite Toni Storm was reportedly injured during last weekend’s NXT: UK tapings to crown the new WWE United Kingdom Women’s Champion. In the finals of the women’s tournament, Storm was facing NXT star Rhea Ripley when she took a bad back bump. The official signaled to the backstage arena with the “X” injury sign and the match was rushed to a finish with Ripley being crown the inaugural WWE UK Women’s Champion. Ripley is said to have been concerned for Storm before the referee told her to go celebrate her momentous win. Triple H then approached Storm and spoke to her in the ring, while she kept gesturing to her back.
WWE has not yet commented on the injury but Storm made it to the finals of this year’s Mae Young Classic and is scheduled to face Io Shirai at WWE Evolution on October 28th to crown the second annual MYC winner.
