Blu-Ray (4k) Review – Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

Blu-ray Reviews, Film, Reviews, Top Story

Jurassic World may not have been the best film of the Jurassic Park franchise but it never hit the lows of the first two sequels in the franchise but it was a reboot steeped in the sort of nostalgia that hit well with the box office and critics alike. The standards for the sequel, Fallen Kingdom, were much higher and while it may be the biggest grossing film of 2018 that didn’t involve a superhero it might be the highest grossing bad film of all time.

Simple premise. After the island where the revamped park is about to undergo seismic activity, leading to a second extinction of the dinosaurs, Owen (Chris Pratt) is talked into a dangerous mission back. This time he’s joining up with Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) to go back and save the dinosaurs with help from a generous benefactor.

There’s a twist, of course, as not all benefactors are truly generous and altruistic in cinema, but ultimately Fallen Kingdom is a bad sequel for many reasons but because of one thing: what should be a fun romp about a group of environmentalists getting a well-deserved reward for trying to mess with ravenous dinosaurs becomes a bad horror film where what should be dead teenagers winds up becoming something else entirely.

You have to feel badly for Chris Pratt right about now; with Guardian of the Galaxy 3 and his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe up in the air with James Gunn’s firing this remains his highly lucrative franchise…. One that is running on fumes in terms of ideas.

Some EPK pieces and a handful of extras documenting life on set with Chris Pratt are included and don’t add much back into it.
