In a fan video taken after the conclusion of last night’s main event, it is plain to see the WWE Universe was not happy with a “no contest” finish in a Hell in a Cell match.
In case you missed it, Strowman and Reigns battled for the Universal Championship inside of the newly red Cell. With Mick Foley as the referee, Braun and Roman tore each other (and the cage) apart, showcasing how vicious these matches can be. Then, with both men prone on the mat, Brock Lesnar enters the arena, kicks down the Cell door and F5s both championship contenders, leading to a no contest ruling.
This was just another glaring example of the WWE booking the Universal championship poorly. The title has less prestige than even the Intercontinental Championship at the moment and the only way to fix that is with strong, steady and entertaining defenses. The finish of this match ruined any good the match itself was doing up until that point.
