Perfect Blue Lights Up Blu-ray On March 26, 2019

Disc Announcements, News

Don’t you hate it when you’ve completely missed out on something and discover it 20 years after its initial release? You start to question the people and resources that you depended upon to find out about cool things. Who were you taking advice from? Why didn’t they have a clue that this film existed? Why didn’t they force me to watch it all those years ago? Were my friends really cool? How come West End Video didn’t have the box on the shelf? Such is what can happen when you discover that Perfect Blue is coming out on Blu-ray to celebrate its 20th anniversary. The animated film from Japan had a big impact on those who were properly connected. This was not a Disney Princess film. The tale of singer who leaves the stage in order to find herself as an actress only goes dark quick with a killer on the loose. Now I’m eager to see the film when it comes out on March 26 from Shout! Factory and GKIDS. Here’s the press release from Shout! Factory with a list of bonus features:

“Dark, disturbing, and insanely beautiful” – VICE

“A rebellious cult gem” – Interview Magazine

“One of the best animated movies ever made” – Time Out, USA Today, Complex
