DC Comics Cancels Upcoming Jesus Christ and Superman Analog Buddy Series “Second Coming” From DC Vertigo! Creators Looking For New Publisher!

DC Comics have advised retailors that the upcoming Second Coming series from DC Vertigo has been cancelled after a religious backlash over the depiction of Jesus Christ a sidekick to a Superman analog Sun-Man.

Writer Mark Russell commented on the cancellation and his plans for the series.

The text:

The: DC/Vertigo’s cancellation of the orders for Second Coming, just so you know, DC did not do anything untoward to me. I asked for the rights back and they gracefully agreed. They’ve been a pleasure to work with and it will still be released, albeit with a different publisher.
