Blu-Ray Review – Iceman: The Time Traveler

Blu-ray Reviews, Film, Reviews, Top Story

Donnie Yen is always interesting when it comes to action films. For American audiences he’s the direct to video king of Asian action films; the last several years have featured Yen starring in any number of successful action films. Iceman was such an interesting film that Iceman: The Time Traveler was anticipated.

Unfortunately, the sequel is about as terrible as a sequel can get.

The premise behind the franchise is interesting. Yen plays a late century warrior who manages to time travel via being frozen in an avalanche. Waking up in Hong Kong, the first film featured Ying (Yen) battling his friends thinking he was a traitor. After an epic battle to finish up the first film, Ying goes back in time to try and prevent the slaughter of his clan.

At least that’s what I think happened.

The film is beautifully shot with some first-rate action sequences but trying to figure out what the hell is happening is a very difficult one. The overall plotline is difficult to follow and after a while even the best action sequences can’t make up for the fact that this film is insanely hard to follow even removing the language barrier.

The trailer is the only extra included.
