This the biggest week I’ve had this year, although there are no debuts – just some good reliable titles.

I wanted to take a moment to discuss how much I’m enjoying the new X-Force series, including the art by Dylan Burnett. I’ve seen people complaining, but I think it’s one of the best new X-books I’ve seen in years, and I think Burnett’s art is perfect for it. Check it out!

I’m also looking forward to new issues of Aliens: Resistance, Black Hammer: Age of Doom, Black Panther, Captain America, Daredevil, Die!Die!Die!, Heroes in Crisis, Invaders, Mage: The Hero Denied, Man-Eaters, Outcast by Kirkman and Azaceta, Peter Cannon: Thunderbolt, Star Wars: Doctor Aphra, The Wicked + The Divine, and X-Force.

  • Peter Canon Thunderbolt #2 – After hearing about this series on Eleven o Clock Comics Podcast, I had to check it out. Kind of a fun play on the end of Watchmen, where a group of heroes comes together to defeat an alien attack, only for one of them to realize that the attack was staged to bring the world together. It was a clever little twist, and definitely made me want to read more.
  • Mage The Hero Denied #15 – The end of the third part of the Mage saga. Seems like this is intended to finish the story off for good. I am pretty new to Mage, but I really enjoyed the story. Hopefully Wagner can bring it to a satisfying conclusion.
  • Savage Sword of Conan #2 – Still not sure we need two Conan series, but I did really enjoy the first issue of Savage Sword. Art in particular was just gorgeous, and a well put together Conan story. I also like that both Conan series seem to be doing fairly standalone stories that link together into longer arcs. It’s a great presentation for Conan.
  • West Coast Avengers #8 – Kelly Thompson revealed that this series is ending with issue 10. While it’s not too surprising, I am pretty disappointed by that news. Just a quirky, fun team book and we need more of that in comics!
