Detroit rapper Eminem has at last unveiled details about his upcoming new record.
“Recovery,” the rapper’s seventh major label album, will be released June 22, according to an Interscope Records statement. Originally slated as a sequel to last year’s “Relapse” comeback album — and long billed as “Relapse 2” — the new album was instead given a title that more accurately reflects its theme, Eminem said.
“I had originally planned for ‘Relapse 2’ to come out last year,” he said via the statement. “But as I kept recording and working with new producers, the idea of a sequel to ‘Relapse’ started to make less and less sense to me, and I wanted to make a completely new album. The music on ‘Recovery’ came out very different from ‘Relapse,’ and I think it deserves its own title.”
