Pull List Roundtable 3/20/2019 – Invisible Kingdom #1, The Life & Death of Toyo Harada #1, Infinity 8 #10 & More!

James Fulton

  • Invisible Kingdom #1 – Long before G. Willow Wilson’s name blew up with her advent of Kamala Khan, she wrote a wonderful Vertigo series called Air that I was a big fan of. Now, she’s got this new Dark Horse science fiction series starting up with Christian Ward. I don’t know much about it, but with those names attached, I’m curious to check it out (I just hope that Ward can keep up with the schedule).
  • Lazarus Risen #1 – I’m not all that happy that Greg Rucka and Michael Lark have taken to a quarterly schedule for this title, but any schedule is welcome at this point, and I’ve been looking forward to seeing what’s up with Forever again.
  • The Life and Death of Toyo Harada #1 – Joshua Dysart’s work on Harbinger, and then on the superior Imperium, has always been the best of Valiant’s line. Now, he’s returning to finish off the long storyline he started with this new miniseries, and I couldn’t be more excited.
  • I’m also looking forward to new issues of Black Badge, Criminal, Farmhand (it’s back!), Guardians of the Galaxy, Incursion, Miles Morales: Spider-Man, Star Wars, Teen Titans (only because of the Deathstroke crossover), Uncanny X-Men, The Warning, and X-O Manowar.

John Babos

5 book this week

  • Avengers #17
  • Electric Warriors #5
  • Incursion #2
  • Justice League #20
  • Teen Titans #28

James Fulton: How is Electric Warriors?

John Babos: Comme ci, comme ça. Art is good and the book’s also got cool Easter Eggs.

Mike Maillaro

  • Infinity 8 #10 – Infinity 8 starts it’s 4th story arc. I came to this series because of a recommendation from the 11’O Clock Comics Podcast, which seems to be how I come to most series these days. It’s a sci-fi story with a lot of crazy moving parts. Each arc is basically stand alone, so it’s a good jumping on point.
  • Dark Red #1 – New series from Aftershock about a Vampire working in a dead end job in the suburbs. Aftershock puts out a lot of great comics I like to read in a variety of genre. The second issue of Stronghold also comes out this week.
  • Avengers No Road Home #6 – Adding Conan to the Marvel universe is so gimmicky…but I have to admit, I really felt a rush when he showed up at the end of issue 5 to save Scarlet Witch. It’s very much in the spirit of fun, anything goes comics, and I kind of dig that.
