  • Ascender #1 – I’ve missed the cast of Descender, and have especially missed Dustin Nguyen’s painted art, so I’m more than ready for this title to kick off.
  • I’m also looking forward to new issues of Black Panther, Criminal, Doctor Aphra, Heroes in Crisis, Invisible Kingdom, Star Wars: Vader – Dark Visions, The Warning, and The Wicked + The Divine.
  • I’d kind of forgotten Sex, the wonderful Batmanesque series by Joe Casey and Piotr Kowalski. Now a new trade is coming out, with all-new material (they’ve done away with monthly issues).

Mike Maillaro

  • Sonic the Hedgehog Tangle and Whisper 0 – Two characters that played a big role in Sonic’s main series. This is actually a lead in to their own ongoing. Not sure these two can carry a book themselves, but they are pretty fun characters, and my son is looking forward to reading this one.
  • Avengers: Edge of Infinity – A weird little one-shot that has nothing to do with Infinity Gems, Thanos, Endgame or anything like that. It’s the Avengers vs MODOK for control of the Cosmic Cube. I have no idea why this book even exists.
  • Thanos 1 – Speaking of End Game, the timing of this book seems pretty obvious. I loved the last Thanos series by Donny Cotes, so I will pick this one up.
  • Punk Mambo 1 – Valiant is going through a pretty big upheaval in the next few months. The July solicits have no sign of major tent pole books like X-O Manowar, Ninjak, Shadowman, and Bloodshot. Punk Mambo is a strange character to get her own series, but I’ve always liked her and I am curious what the future holds for Valiant.
  • Replacer – A graphic novel from Aftershock with a horror bend to it “After his father suffers a debilitating stroke, one young boy struggles to come to terms with what’s happened — not least of all because he’s convinced that what happened has a particularly demonic influence, even if no one else realizes it.” Definitely sounds like something I would enjoy.
