  • Trust Fall #1 – Another new series from Aftershock. I’ve said many times in this column how Aftershock has earned my trust to check out pretty much every first issue they put out. The solicit for this one really caught my eye, “Ash Parsons was raised to believe she’s special. As someone with a quirk of genetics that lets her teleport things, she’s the golden goose of her family — the foundation of a struggling criminal outfit. Ash is able to pop out whole fleets of cars and entire bank vaults. But while she can teleport valuables and her accomplices, she can’t teleport herself — making every job a trust fall with her family there to catch her and escort her to safety. It’s a perfect setup, but as things begin to change and the Parsons move up in the world, Ash will find herself pushing back against her golden cage, with deadly results.”
  • Outer Darkness #7 – My favorite part of this column is when Babos or Fulton point me in the direction of a book I never even knew existed. A few weeks ago, Fulton posted about Outer Darkness, an Image book that is basically Star Trek mixed with magic where all the characters are assholes. I was intrigued by his description and ended up reading the first arc in one sitting. Second arc starts this week, and I definitely recommend this book!
  • Silver Surfer Black #1 – Surfer was actually my first favorite comic character, and he still holds a special place in my heart. We got a little tease for this one in Guardians of the Galaxy Annual 1, but it’s Silver Surfer so I would be picking it up blind anyway.
  • Event Leviathan #1 – I’ve mostly liked Bendis’s work on Superman. I did think the lead in was pretty hit or miss, but I will likely check out this event anyway.
  • Detective Comics #1005 – The last issue of this series giving us Arkham Knight’s origin is one of the best Batman comics I have read in a long time. It even got my wife’s attention and she hasn’t read a Batman comic in like ten years.
