Marvel Comics Universe and Marvels Epilogue #1 Spoilers and Review follows.
A Touching Ending To…
…25th Anniversary Celebration Of Marvels!
News photographer Phil Sheldon, the OG series’ everyman, continues to serve in that role in this short epilogue story; he bumps into Wolverine and…
…and the X-Men during Christmas season in the 1970s.
Even though the epologue story is short, part of the fun is also seeing who painter Alex Ross added into the background such as fabled DC Comics editor Julius Schwartz and iconic 1970s/80s Superman actor Christopher Reeve in the first panel below framing the scene.
A Sentinel is wreaking havok in NYC prompting the X-Men to act!
The X-Men and Nova helps do clean-up, literally, as a precursor to Damage Control I suppose.
We then see pivotal Marvel Comics history moments through our lead…
…plus a message of the importance of media to end the issue.
The Pulse:
A gorgeous and touching tale with a smattering of action. The actual new story is somewhere around 15 pages, but rest of issue are interviews, layouts, etc. that show what comic books the epilogue was story was based in / on. A satisfying, fun and nostalgic read. 9 out of 10.
