A nice little week to end off the summer!

I’m looking forward to new issues of Ascender, Black Panther, Black Science, Captain America, House of X, and The Killers.

I’m curious to see just how much Legion of Super-Heroes there is in the next issue of Superman – I’ve avoided Bendis at DC so far, but my love of the Legion has me curious (and a little frightened).

  • Marvel Comics #1000 – This Marvel anniversary issue should be pretty fun with creative teams each doing one page. Curious to see how this one works out.
  • Batman Superman #1 – This book seems to be a stealth follow up to The Batman Who Laughs. DC has done some fun and innovative things with the various Batman/Superman team-up books for a while now, so I was looking forward to this book. I didn’t particularly love The Batman Who Laughs, as it felt like a big story with no real direction or consequences, but I did like the ending and hopefully that will lead to a solid comic here.
  • She-Hulk Annual #1 – For the most part I’ve really enjoyed these Acts of Evil annuals with heroes fighting villains they don’t encounter all that often. This one features She-Hulk Vs Bullseye. Normally I wouldn’t think of Bullseye as a threat to She-Hulk, but last week in Valkyrie he managed to kill a major Asgardian character, so in the Power Rankings I think you need to boast Bullseye’s status.
  • Doctor Mirage #1 – One of my favorite Valiant characters, especially from the old school Valiant. Happy to see Valiant giving her another mini-series. She’s too great a character to see land on the shelf too long.
  • Power Pack Grow Up #1 – With some of the Power Pack characters appearing all grown up in Fantastic Foundation. I actually didn’t realize this was a flashback special to when they were kids. I didn’t have a huge connection to these characters back in the day, but I have enjoyed the comics I have read with them as both kids and adults. Add in Louise Simonson on this book, and I am definitely in as a customer.
  • Superman #14 – A few weeks later that expected, we are finally getting the return of The Legion of Super-Heroes. Been a huge fan since the original Legion Lost, so I have been waiting for this impatiently for a while. Never saw a comic get pulled from the shelf for “inaccurate cover” before, but we are finally getting Legion back. LLTL!
  • Spider-Man Life Story #6 – This series kind of reminds me of Byrne’s Generations stories. That is a very good thing. I wanna see Marvel do more books like this. A nice surprise that I have really enjoyed.
