Abbott & Costello: The Complete Universal Pictures Collection Hits Blu-ray In November

Disc Announcements, News

If you’re a fan of Svengoolie (and why aren’t you), the horror host mentions that besides the classic Universal monsters, the biggest requests and ratings the show gets is when he digs into the Abbott and Costello filmography. The comedy duo were a massive success at the box office when they left the vaudeville stage for Hollywood soundstages. Lou Costello was the slapstick target who was an easy mark for trouble. Bud Abbott was the ultimate straight man who could set up jokes for Lou and also slam his sidekick out of the park. They quickly became the biggest stars at Universal not wearing rubber on their faces. They even brought back the monsters with them meeting Frankenstein, The Mummy, the Invisible Man and Boris Karloff. Abbott and Costello: The Complete Universal Pictures Collection upgrades to Bluray their 28 movies made for the studio. Along with the TV specials about their careers including one hosted by Jerry Seinfeld, there’s new bonus features about the duo. There’s so much in the steamer trunk boxset. Here’s the press release from Shout! Factory with all the fun to arrive in time for Thanksgiving:
