DC Comics Universe and Suicide Squad #1 Spoilers and Review follows.

Injustice Comes To Task Force X and…

…What Is Amanda Waller’s Shocking…

…New Status Quo?!

The book opens with the kidnapping of a high-ranking military official by a brand new character…

…who is aided by another, but…

…the military meets a grisly fate supposedly by accident.

We meet the rest of the new team as…

…its final two members, using their dense skin, serve as torpedoes against a military submarine; this new team captures its nuclear payload.

Enter Task Force X aka the Suicide Squad; Amanda Waller takes a back seat to new field commander Lok.

Also, while if a team member successfully completes a mission a year is shaved off their sentence like olde times, what is new is that if any criminal refuses a mission a year gets added to their sentence.

Harley Quinn isn’t a fan of Lok using a cattle prod on Deadshot because he doesn’t like this new rule, but Amanda Waller continues to acquiesce.

Suicide Squad goes on the mission against these young Revolutionaries, its gets bloody with half of the Suicide Squad killed, but…

…Lok injects them with tech that serves as a bomb and communication device “recruiting” them to the Suicide Squad; Amanda Waller takes this moment to tell Deadshot and Harley Quinn that she has quit and is only here to transition leadership of Task Force X to Lok.

Lok tells the Revolutionaries they are on the Suicide Squad now, but…

…T.N. Teen wants none of it and dies instead of joining Task Force X.

Lok tells Osita if they don’t join she can help him pick who dies next; welcome to the new Suicide Squad!

The Pulse:

Hot commodity Injustice creative team jumps onboard the Suicide Squad for a 2019 iteration that is true in tone to the OG 1986 Task Force X. Great art, multi-layered story, surprises, action and drama. Well done. 9.5 out of 10. A bloody Merry Christmas literally.
