Interesting and varied pile this week.

  • Alienated – Si Spurrier’s recent series and work (The Spire, Doctor Aphra, Crossed Plus 100) have been impressive, so I figured I’d take a stab at this new Boom! title he has with Chris Wildgoose. It looks good.
  • Tartarus – This new Image series by Johnnie Christmas and Jack Cole looks interesting. I like baroque science fiction, and while I’m diving into this without knowing anything about it, I’m getting a bit of a Low vibe off the look of this.
  • Undone by Blood or The Shadow of A Wanted Man – Zac Thompson and Lonnie Nadler writing a gritty looking Western at Aftershock? I’m in.
  • I’m also looking forward to new issues of 20XX, Ascender, Immortal Hulk, Rai, SFSX, Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ten, Thor, X-Force, and X-Men.

I have been going down a back issue rabbit hole, so I am actually a few weeks behind on my comics. But there are still quite a few new books coming out this week to talk about.

  • Batman Pennyworth RIP #1, Superman #20 and Superman Heroes #1 – Years and years of comic reading makes it easy to get jaded when something big happens. Alfred dies and Superman reveals his identity. While I am enjoying both stories, at the back of my head is constant thought, “So how long is this going to actually stick? A year? 18 months tops?” I really miss being a young comic reader who was able to believe that Superman was actually dead!
  • Gwen Stacy #1 – I am genuinely curious what’s with the resurgence of Gwen Stacy love lately? Gwen was dead long before I was reading comics, so I’ve never had a strong connection to the character. I do enjoy Ghost Spider, but I am a sucker for all alternate reality stories anyway. Also a lot of nostalgic Spider-Man titles like this and Symbiote Spider-Man Alien Reality #3. Not a complaint, just an observation.
  • Marvel Action Spider-Man Volume 2 #1 – Man, comics have reached a weird place when even our “for kids” series are getting constant relaunches and second seasons.
  • Dragonfly And Dragonflyman #4 (Of 5)
  • Archie 1955 #5 (Of 5)
  • Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers #29
  • Batman And The Outsiders #10
  • Batman’s Grave #5 (Of 12)

  • Harley Quinn And The Birds Of Prey #1 (Of 4)

  • Wonder Woman #751
  • Sonic The Hedgehog #25
  • Uncle Scrooge #54
  • Postal Deliverance #7
  • Amazing Spider-Man #39
  • Black Panther And The Agents Of Wakanda #6
  • Dr. Strange #3
