DC Comics Universe and Nightwing #69 Spoilers and Review follows.

New Costume For Dick Grayson, Court Of Owl Mythology Expanded and…

…Joker War Begins Early On The Road To Nightwing #75!

The book opens with someone cackling about four Nightwings; I think readers know who he is.

We then pivot to Switzerland where Nightwing looks to…

…gets some closer over his conflicted life…

…by taking of the remnants of the Court of Owls.

He defeats the two Talons and is threatened by Doctor Haas…

…who attempts to manipulate him with the Identity Crystal.

However, an explosion ensues…

…Haas seemingly dies with Nightwing or Ric Grayson or Dick Grayson wanting to head back to Gotha City with the Identity Crystal.

The book ends with the reveal of that cackling man from the opening page of this book…

…the Joker!

An ending that was spoiled with the months old reveal of the cover to Nightwing #70.

The Pulse:

Nightwing should be cornerstone of the super-hero community that DC builds upon. This last Court of Owls arc, tied in DC’s Year of the Villain, was compelling reading. However, its past time that Dick Grayson return to his rightful role as Nightwin, out from the shadow of the bat, and embrace his role in DC. I think we’re getting closer to that as August 2020’s Nightwing #75 looms. I remain intrigued by the four Nightwings though, but not the expense of the OG. In terms of this issue, it was ok. Ok art and ok cliffhanger. Just an ok issue. 6 out of 10.
