James Fulton

This week I’m looking forward to: Black Panther, Black Stars Above, Giant-Size X-Men: Jean Grey & Emma Frost, Invisible Kingdom, New Mutants, Protector (The first issue was so good!), Sex Criminals, Star Wars, X-Force, X-Men, X-Men/Fantastic Four.

Matt Graham: Your wallet is crying.

Fulton:  Yes it is. Each strike day makes me reconsider preordering.

Babos: X-Men/Fantastic Four looked so promising. Sigh.

Fulton: I didn’t dislike the first issue. I’m not a huge Dobson fan, but I did like the way Zdarsky leaned into the fact that both Reed and Charles are kind of jerks.

Babos: Xavier is so out of character in Dawn of X.

Mike Maillaro

Want to start off this week’s comments by saying “HOLY CRAP, DAN DIDIO IS GONE FROM DC???” I certainly wasn’t expecting that. No idea what that means in the short or long term.

  • Amethyst #1 – Anyone else surprised that Amethyst is still a thing? I actually love what they have done with her in Young Justice, so I will be checking this out, but I am not sure there is a real audience. I can’t help but think of when Crossgen made a push for some of their books like Meridian in teen magazines. I don’t see DC putting the same advertising muscle behind Amethyst, which is unfortunate.
  • Batman Beyond #41 – Neat little surprise at the end of the last issue when we found out the identity of Batwoman Beyond. It made perfect sense, but I definitely didn’t see it coming. It’s always nice when comics can still surprise me, and in a good way.
