I’m excited to dive into Strange Adventures. I’ve missed the team of Tom King and Mitch Gerads since Mister Miracle ended, and while I’ve never been a big Adam Strange fan, I hope this will be as cool as I expect it to be.

I’m a big fan of John Layman and Afu Chan’s Outer Darkness, and think it’s deeply weird that they decided to do a tie-in with Layman’s most famous book, Chew. It should be amusing…

I’m also looking forward to new issues of Daredevil, Doctor Doom, Farmhand, Marauders, Miles Morales: Spider-Man, and Nobody Is In Control (I didn’t think we’d see this end).

Lots of number 1’s to talk about this week!

  • Billionaire Island #1 – Mark Russell has become the comic king of satirizing social issues. Ahoy Comics puts out a lot of unusual comics, and I am curious about this one.
  • Strange Adventures #1 – I know Tom King’s Batman got a lot of mixed responses, but for the most part I really enjoy his work. I expect this to be in line with Mister Miracle and Vision, which are two of my favorite series in recent memory.
  • Superman Villains #1 – More of the fallout of Superman revealing his secret identity, this time from the villain perspective. I really can’t wait to see how Lex Luthor takes this news!
  • Outer Darkness/ Chew #1 – Well this is a strange crossover…Outer Darkness is a space opera in the vein of Star Trek if Star Trek was set in a universe where Magic was real. And Chew is a detective story about a detective who gets psychic connections from eating meat (and human flesh). I have no idea how you connect these two series (both created by John Layman), but damn if I wanna see it.
  • Marvel #1 – I can’t even keep all the new “Marvel” series straight that involve some combination of Alex Ross and/or Kurt Busiek. Marvel, Marvel X, The Marvels. But I genuinely love the combination of Ross and Busiek, so I am picking this one up without even understanding exactly what it is…
  • Strange Academy #1 – I am not sure how this ties in with current events in the Doctor Strange series, but the preview was a lot of fun, so I am picking it up anyway. Young hero books at Marvel don’t have a great sales track record, so it is very possible this series won’t last all that long, unfortunately.
  • Spider-Man Noir #1 – I loved Spider-Man Noir, and it’s about time we get another mini set in that world!
  • Batman #90
  • Flash #750
  • Justice League #42
  • Justice League Odyssey #19
  • Lois Lane #9 (Of 12)
  • Sonic The Hedgehog #26
  • 2020 Rescue #1 (Of 2)
  • Black Cat #10
  • Black Panther And The Agents Of Wakanda #7
  • Conan Battle For The Serpent Crown #2 (Of 5)
  • Daredevil #19
  • Dr. Strange #4
  • Excalibur #8
  • Iron Man 2020 #3 (Of 6)
  • Magnificent Ms. Marvel #13
  • Marauders #9
  • Miles Morales Spider-Man #16
  • Savage Avengers #11
