  • Cable – I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Cable (mostly, I hate him), but the teen version strikes me as more interesting, and I’m a Phil Noto fan. I do wish that Ed Brisson was writing this, as he did such a good job with this character in Extermination and X-Force, but Gerry Duggan’s Marauders has turned out to be better than I expected, so he gets an arc to impress me.
  • Decorum – Jonathan Hickman has a new Image series, with artist Mike Huddleston, and I am of course excited for it. Hickman’s creator owned stuff is always better than his corporate work, and while I’d like to see him return to the titles that he’s already started and apparently abandoned (The Dying And The Dead, Black Monday Murders), I’m game to check this out. I’m hoping for something that will fill the void left by East of West.
  • Star Wars: Bounty Hunters – I’m a sucker for Star Wars stuff, and I liked the Target Vader series that featured many of these characters, so I’m in. The bounty hunter culture is some of the most interesting stuff in the Star Wars universe.

I’m also looking forward to new issues of Immortal Hulk, Manifest Destiny, New Mutants, Rai, SFSX, Snotgirl, Star Wars: Darth Vader, Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren, Thor, and X-Men

  • Decorum #1 – His work on X-Men has made me a convert to the Church of Hickman. His just has a terrific ability to build a world and put a lot of ideas into his comics. I don’t always think he gets established characters “right,” but I still really enjoy what he puts together. This is his new series for Image about space assassins. Honestly, I was picking  it up anyway, so didn’t look much deeper to see what it was about.
  • X-Men #8 – Speaking of Hickman, the last issue of X-Men was nuts! The process of restoring “M-Day’d mutants” to their full glory certainly hints at how screwed up this new mutant society is. It was nice to see Scott as the voice of reason, since most writers the last few years seem to have nothing but contempt for Cyclops.
  • Sub-Mariner Marvels Snapshot #1 – I mentioned last week that Marvel had a confusing amount of books like this which are vaguely tied to Busiek/Ross’s legendary Marvels mini. I know this book has a Ross cover, but not much else about it other than the phrase “curated by Busiek” was used to describe it.
