Celebrating Friday with the addition of none other than @joelle_jones to our stellar lineup of world class artists—all united in our goal to raise monies for struggling comic shops in need via @thinkingbinc! Joelle is just the best in creating immersive shots where you feel like you’re walking into the scene. The artwork she creates, both digitally and with traditional pen and paper, is a master class on how simple black and white lines through the variance of lineweight, patterns, and highlights can create a near infinite spectrum of textures. Whether it’s polished chrome or slick leather or gritty masonry—the textures balance the extraordinary detail she brings to her work so the eye flows effortlessly across the panels. And I love how the graceful figure work and chiseled faces bridge the rawness and energy of life drawing with the stylized and slick appeal of fashion illustration. Just a brilliant combo. So sound off in the comments below of what you would like to see Joelle draw. Please aggregate your choices and upvote the ones you like the most. #comicbookunitedfund

Lee Weeks.

How fortunate are we to have the master artist @leeweeksart join us in our effort to raise money to support struggling comic stores in need via nonprofit @thinkingbinc!? Lee Weeks is the consummate draftsman; he’s a beast who can draw everything “as it should be”—the Platonic ideal: the form as it‘s meant to be. I’m always studying his shadow placement and how he is measured in his effects so as to not overwhelm the realism of the scenes. Always dramatic and stirring—his figures possess a majestic gravity that is his signature trademark. You, the fans, get to decide what he will draw for charity! Then I’ll post Lee’s contribution here and also on EBay for a 3 day auction with proceeds as I mentioned before to benefit Binc. Please comment below with your suggestions but make sure to upvote existing comments if you see your choice already identified. I’m excited to see how he brings your prompts to life! #comicbookunitedfund

David Choe.

Joining the all star legion of artists supporting the cause is my good friend—the ever innovative creative whirlwind that is David Choe! (@davidchoe or @davidchoe2 on IG take your pick lol). I’ve known David for over 13 years now and he’s always been an incredible inspiration to me in how he embraces change and fearlessly commits to paths less traveled. He has reinvented himself many times over his years, but the one constant is his ability to electrify audiences with his artwork and storytelling. He’s not done a lot of comic work and really made his name doing high end gallery exhibitions but even left that gig to pursue more personal pet projects. Regardless he’s a huge fan of comics and comic book stores and wants to help out with this Batman contribution which is now a 3 day auction on EBay! David doesn’t sell his work anymore so this is a super rare opportunity to own an original David Choe! @thinkingbinc
