WWE Raw 5/11/20 Recap – Becky Announcement

Reviews, Top Story

An MITB match recap starts things off and includes Rey and Aleister being pitched off the building by Corbin. Becky walks down sternly with the women’s MITB case in-hand and a stern face. She talks about people carrying her through history and the fans always had her back. She tears up and says she has to go away for a while before Asuka interrupts. Becky says that the MITB match wasn’t just for a title shot – it was for the title. Becky says she can’t fight – but Asuka can and is the champion. Asuka does a split-legged hop off the apron and dances with the belt. Becky tells her to be a warrior because she’s got to go be a mother.

Tom recaps nothing and throws to a recap of all that. Rey, Nattie, the Street Profits, Liv, Truth, and Kairi celebrate with Becky. Lashley comes out and we get a recap of last week’s gauntlet when he was DQed for kicking too much ass against Carrillo to face him tonight in a no DQ match. Lashley spikes him with a spinebuster and goes for a spear, but Humberto is by the ropes and Lashley launches himself out and grabs a chair, but Humberto dropkicks it into his face. Lashley tosses him into the post rib first. Carrillo gets the chair and smacks him a few times, but taps to a full nelson that he won’t give up on.

We get clips of the Street Profits setting up a basketball game with the Viking Raiders, who are in full gear wacky antlers and all. Charly brings Asuka in. So Asuka is now officially a babyface and like sure she’s perfect, but wow is this all just bizarre to see done like this. Kairi celebrates with Asuka and Edge vs. Orton at Mania is recapped. Zelina’s crew is backstage arguing because…of course they are. They’ve been together a whole month – time to tease a breakup.

Garza’s out to destroy Akira Tozawa as the latter is in a cruiserweight title tournament on an unbeaten streak there. Wing Clipper ends it and Garza bickers with Austin Theory. Drew comes down and claymores Theory, so Garza and Andrade laugh at him and Drew claymores Garza, who bumps over the top. Now they’re teasing champion vs. champion tonight, which we’ve already had a month ago and Drew won decisively. And now we’re back and we just have that match. Drew gets some damage to the arm in the rope – playing off their NXT Title match when Andrade won. Silent countdown with a claymore ends it.  Then he announces the brand to brand invitation as if that’s something we’ve seen on-air before.

Drew says that next week, he’ll face KING CORBIN. Oh boy howdy will more Baron Corbin be the cure for sagging ratings. MVP hypes up Lashley to seemingly reform their TNA partnership. He wants Lashley to fight for the WWE Title – like he was in 2007, when he was getting his start. Alexa and Nikki wish everyone a happy mother’s day before the IIconics return. Dammit – isn’t the pandemic bad enough? Now we’re getting Bliss/Cross vs. the IIconics in a non-title affair and the IIconics beat them with a reverse Magic Killer.

Rey is backstage with Charly and he says that he feels great and he kept telling himself that the risk was worth the reward. Both he and Black hit the secondary roof, but he’s happy for Otis. Seth walks in barely recognizable and Rey congratulates him, but Seth just walks off. Truth, Cedric, and Ricochet face MVP, Vink, and Thorne. Truth brings back Pretty Ricky on the apron. Truth calf kicks MVP down for 2 before taking him out with the Lie Detector forearm. Lashely comes down and spears Truth before locking on the full nelson before MVP boots Truth in the jaw.

Charly interviews Jinder and he talks about Drew, his old buddy, becoming WWE Champion. However, as a former WWE Champion, he too deserves respect. He says his journey to the top will now be a hero’s journey. I guess he’s a babyface – only one with an arrogant delivery. AJ Goes from having PTSD at seeing Taker to now just kicking back and watching preview footage of the doc.

Shayna buries Becky for getting pregnant and housing a parasite and then buries Seth. Black and Rey are out to face Seth and Murphy, and we see Becky celebrate with Vince. Seth just comes out looking sad, stands on the apron while Murphy eats a beating from the faces. For some reason, this takes a million years despite it being a babyface advantage. Seth finally takes a shot from Rey and then Seth takes out Rey’s eye and tells Murphy to stay back as he puts the point of the steps into Rey’s right eye.

Backstage, Black and Murphy brawl. Wacky basketball time with the Raiders opting to not play with their antlers – because that might look stupid. The Raiders bowl the ball around and we get wacky “comedy” music throughout all this. Rowe gets a single shot off on the Profits and they proclaim victory. Nattie is mad at Shayna for “disrespecting the miracle that is motherhood.” Profits win 74-2 and the Raiders say they let them win and then rule the court with Hanson getting a slam dunk.

Shayna comes out to face Nattie and Nattie cradles her off the arm stomp, but eats a big knee that knocks out Nattie for the win. Nattie throws a tantrum in defeat. And now Corbin’s just here and Charly interviews him and he says he showed he would do whatever it took to become King Money in the Bank. Corbin runs through tossing Black and Rey onto the secondary roof. Edge says that he didn’t here to call out Orton – he got what he wanted at WM and Orton congratulates Edge on beating him. Orton says the better man won the fight – but the better wrestler didn’t. Edge has been fighting people on his terms. He doesn’t think Edge can truly wrestle anymore – but hey, he’s got GRIT and he issues a challenge for a match at Backlash. Charly says this could be the greatest wrestling match ever. Yeah no.
