Proud to announce that THE @marc_silvestri is joining our merry band of artists, united to raise money for comic stores in need via @thinkingbinc! Marc, as you know is one of the original founders of Image and a fellow X-Men artist who in my mind really defined Wolverine, Rogue, and Colossus back in the 80s and 90s. One of the best times in my career was when he and I shared studio space with @acottwilliamsinks @inkmonkeyhope @jscottcampbellart @sinccolor et al in San Diego when we were starting up Image. We would start drawing mid afternoon, fill in the down time with spirited ping pong matches or play Vector (?) I think it was called on our networked macs in the studio and then hit Denny’s with the crew at 2am and work all night afterwards. He was a huge influence on so many artists’ work—mine included and is in my opinion, doing the work of his career with his latest pieces bringing in new levels of energy and textures in the art he’s creating. As always, you, the fans, will get to select what Marc draws. So sound off below on what you’d like Marc to draw and donate to a good cause!

Rounding out this week’s list of amazing artists helping raise money for beleaguered comic shops is the ever talented, fan favorite Shane Davis @shanedavisart2000! Shane brings a slick, measured line to his pieces, smartly making sure each character and their gestures are true to their nature. Whether he’s bringing out the power or playfulness or menace in a character—Shane uses shading, gestures, forshortening and lighting to bring it all to life. Furthermore, you can see you how he uses figure placement and attention to negative space to create clear but detailed, eye-catching compositions that again, reinforce the connection between us and the reality he is creating. Shane has graciously agreed to draw a sketch to be auctioned off. You, the fans will get to choose what Shane creates so I’m curious what you guys have in mind. Sound off below and make sure to aggregate your upvotes! #comicbookunitedfund

Let’s give a hearty, big welcome to artist Liam Sharp @liamsharpofficial who is joining us in our campaign to raise money for struggling comic stores in need via @thinkingbinc. Always been a huge fan of Liam and the passion he puts into every project he takes on. There’s an intensity in the line work he layers on the page, a 360 degree of incredible immersion he brings to each scene and a gnarly, bespoke style which brings out the best in nearly every genre of story whether it’s superheroes, fantasy or science fiction. He’s also a gifted creator who has started his own imprint, helped co-found a digital comics platform (@madefire) and approaches his career with a restlessness and urgency which has served him well as he’s pushed and reinvented himself over the many years I’ve known him. As always, Liam will draw what you, the fans, decide below so please weigh in and don’t forget to aggregate your upvotes together! #comicbookunitedfund ???? @choisez

Olivia De Berardinis

So stoked to share with you all that none other than @oliviapinupart has graciously agreed to donate a GORGEOUS CATWOMAN painting to the cause to raise much needed money for comic shops via @thinkingbinc! There are very few artists in our world that go by one name and have the recognizability of Olivia’s work! As a child of the 80’s, I was mesmerized by her paintings which were simply sublime, sensual, provocative and masterful. I think I gave up on trying to learn how to paint because her work was so accomplished and perfect that I couldn’t figure out how one could construct and create that hand painted yet hyper realistic look that is her signature style. But now you can through the wonders of social media. The next post will be a short clip showing her process, and it’s flat out astounding how she uses paints, markers and pens to bring her paintings to life. Like all the greats, she makes it look so effortless but know behind every casually thrown brush stroke is a wealth of knowledge and years spent honing her technical skill. Most of all, I love how her approach defines the aesthetic of commercial art but is elevated by her fine art sensibilities and instinct for finding that killer shot or angle that separates her work from the rest. So do yourself a favor and follow @oliviapinupart and learn from a modern day master as she continues to shape and define the modern day pinup ????????
