DC Comics Universe and Far Sector #6 Spoilers and Review follows.
A Mirror On Today’s Black Lives Matter Protests…
…From This DC’s Young Animal Comic Book!
Before I get to this comic book, I want to acknowledge what is happening in the United States and around the world due to the senseless murder of George Floyd at the hands of now former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. The Black Lives Matters protests are in responses to systemic and institutionalized racism in society and in police forces.
Not all black men are criminals, not all white police officers are racist, but the incidence of black men dying at the hands of police is not a new phenomena. In the backdrop of the Covid-19 Coronavirus Pandemic, these protests tap into a real concern. Yes, looting and violence is wrong, but not all protestors are doing that and the ones that aren’t protesting about the tragedy of George Floyd.
With that, onto Far Sector.
There were violent riots in the last issue (full spoilers here) and a local councilperson ordered police to crack down on the protestors; that led to many deaths.
The councilperson regrets that decision and will resign from council; he regrets his actions.
There are other developments in the issue, but I will stop here in light of the protests particularly in the United States and the current messages being sent by the President over the protests stemming from the murder of George Floyd.
The Pulse:
Another solid issue on art and story. Those two pages above leapt out to me. No rating.
