DC Comics Has No Plans Yet To Release Event Leviathan: Checkmate #1 Or Does Midtown Comics / USC Distributor Have Insightful Intel?! (Sans Spoilers)

We’ve been following the curious case of the dancing debut of Event Leviathan: Checkmate #1 (of 6) for the last several weeks. At first, all three (3) current DC Comics distributors had different in-store dates. Then, when we checked in a second time, only one (1) of DC Comics distributors, Midtown Comics aka USC, had a new later June 2020 date. Well, we’re in late in June 2020 now, and only Midtown has an updated release date for the title.

Well, the new placeholder date is July 1, 2020. The other two (2) distributors, Diamond and DCBS (Lunar), have past release dates. I’m starting to wonder if Midtown is just moving the dates forward on their own so their is no stale date for release or if DC Comics plans are actually changing for the book vs. DC Comics having no plan to solicit it yet.

DC’s new Checkmate team is genuinely all-new all-different. Anyhow, here’s the OG solicitation for the issue; don’t mind the stale release date.
