DC Comics Universe & Green Lantern 80th Anniversary 100 Page Super Spectacular #1 Spoilers & Review: Does Joker War Writer & Doomsday Clock Artist Tale Continue Justice Society Of America (JSA) Rebirth With Alan Scott?

Spoilers

DC Comics Universe and Green Lantern 80th Anniversary 100 Page Super Spectacular #1 Spoilers and Review follows.

Does Milestone Book and Story By Joker War Writer and Doomsday Clock Artist Continue…

…Justice Society Of America (JSA) Rebirth With Alan Scott?

I included the above Guy Gardner variant because that Green Lantern 1980s logo is a classic.

The preceding Nicola Scott variant cover is also gorgeous and even include Far Sector’s newest GL Sojourner Jo Mullein with all the other Green Lanterns fans would recognize.

The book opens with, naturally, a tale involving Alan Scott Green Lantern.

He debuted in All-American Comics #16 in July 1940.

It is an interesting story…

…the art is gorgeous while…

…the story is a bit subdued yet…

…intriguing.

We get a lot of reliance on the first iteration of…

…Alan Scott Green Lantern’s powers as…

…green flame vs. green constructs.

Sadly, only one shot of him in costume.

Also, Alan Scott is now gay in the Golden Age as was his New 52 persona on Earth 2 in 2012.

How that 2020 revelation on Prime Earth or Earth 0 impacts any future for his pre-Flashpoint biological children who become the heroes Obsidian and Jade remain to be seen.

Here are their classic DC Comics Who’s Who bios; years later son Obsidian would also come out as gay.

Also, no advancement of JSA rebirth in this issue as seen in Wonder Woman #750 (full spoilers here) and Flash #750 (full spoilers here).

The Pulse:

Lots of stories in this milestone book featuring many Green Lanterns, but the opening story was a great way to kick off the issue with a solid creative team. a Fun story, but would liked to have seen more Alan Scott in his Green Lantern uniform. 8 out of 10.
