DC Comics and Ezra Miller’s The Flash To Feature BOTH Michael Keaton Batman and Ben Affleck Batman!

EW reports:

The Flash movie reveals first look at Barry Allen’s new suit

The upcoming big-screen version of The Flash revealed a first look at Barry Allen’s new suit Saturday.

The concept photos below were revealed Saturday during the film’s virtual DC FanDome event:

The film will incorporate elements of the comic’s 2011 Flashpoint story, which explores a multi-verse concept allowing the speedy superhero to dive into an alternate timeline where several iconic DC heroes play very different roles (in the comics, Wonder Woman and Aquaman are at war, among other things). It’s been previously reported that Michael Keaton would reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman, and Ben Affleck would as well.

“The most important thing is that it gets to your heart,” director Andy Muschietti said. “It’s a time travel story, which is very exciting. He’s someone who has the power of changing the events in the past but in doing so can change the space-time continuum.”

“This film is immensely important because if you look around at the DC universe you have all these characters who exist in their own bubbles,” Ezra Miller, who portrays Barry Allen, added. “We also have multiple people [playing the same characters]. By opening that [multiverse] door, all of these stories and characters can start to collide. It blows our minds the level of possibilities that exist with this character and this story.”

Muschietti even teased the idea of crossing Barry Allen into the world of Game of Thrones, a property owned by Warner Bros. parent company WarnerMedia.

The Flash has had a long road to the big screen, with the film first being announced in 2014 for a 2018 release. Ezra Miller was cast as the hero Barry Allen and the character was first introduced in 2017’s Justice League. While the film was considered an overall disappointment, Miller’s portrayal of Allen provided some much-needed comic relief and was considered one of the movie’s bright spots. Behind the scenes, the project was tackled by different writers and directors until director Andy Muschietti (It) came on board with writer Christina Hodson.

A related issue is that star Miller recently came under fire for a viral video in April that purportedly showed him choking a fan after an argument at a bar in Reykjavik. Miller has not addressed the video.

Filming of The Flash is expected to begin in 2021, for a June 3, 2022, release date.
