  • Crossover – Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw have made some great comics together, so it’s a no brainer for me to check this out. It sounds a lot like Mark Millar’s 1985 to me, but I haven’t paid all that much attention to what it’s all about.
  • Sweet Tooth: The Return – I think it’s odd that Jeff Lemire is revisiting this series, and it sounds like he’s remixing the concepts a little, but I’m curious to see what he has planned. I liked the first Sweet Tooth a lot, so I’m down to check this out.
  • USAgent – Christopher Priest is my favourite superhero comics writer, and I love that he’s taking on John Walker, the most alt-right leaning character in the Marvel stable for this new miniseries. I expect this will be dense, complicated, and hopefully, glorious.
  • Year Zero Vol. 2 – I liked the first Year Zero, which tells short zombie stories from around the world. It’s back, and so am I.
  • I’m also looking forward to new issues of Bang, Fire Power, Guardians of the Galaxy, Lonely Receiver, Lost Soldiers, Marauders, Miles Morales: Spider-Man, Sacred Six, Spy Island, Star Wars, That Texas Blood, Thor, and X-Men.

  • Batman/The Maxx: Arkham Dreams #5 – Glad that we finally got this series complete. As I have said in this column many times, I love The Maxx, and this series has been very much in the spirit of the original series. I don’t know if we will ever get Maxx again, but if not, this is a fine farewell to the character.
  • Captain Marvel #23 – This series has been full of big ideas and big arcs. This time, Captain Marvel has been sent to the far future that appeared in Captain Marvel: The End. It’s really been a fun series that constantly rocks the status quo.
  • Crossover #1 – “Imagine everything you thought was fantasy…was real. And now join us, in a world where reality is dead…and anything is possible..” Donny Cate seems to be taking us on a wild ride here, and I am all for it!
