Marvel Comics and Widowmakers: Red Guardian and Yelena Belova #1 Spoilers and Review follows.

Black Widow’s Allies – Is One A White Widow Or Crimson Widow – Get New Roles In Marvel Ahead Of Film?!

The book has a few variant covers.

Plus the main cover.

We open with a look at the creative team as well as a recap of who the Red Guardian and Yelena Belova are and their relationship to the Avengers’ Black Widow.

The adventure focuses on Yelena Belova who is capture on a mission and…

…escapes prior to being imprisoned, but is saved by / finds the Red Guardian…

…who she thought was dead.

Red Guardian is now portrayed like in the upcoming film; a hero in his twilight, but still lethal.

He holds off their captors…

…allowing her to escape.

Her new mission is…

…against the greediest of the 1% while…

…the Red Guardian survives to fight another day.

We’re not sure where they turn up next, but it looks we should be reading the Black Widow series it seems.

Also, the Black Widow MCU film has been pushed back again due to the pandemic and is currently scheduled for release in North America on May 7, 2021.

The Pulse:

A compelling and action-packed issue with a nice “welcome” back to these two characters. Art was just ok. I’m intrigued to see where they turn up next. 7 out of 10.
