Marvel Comics and Ghost Rider: Return Of Vengeance #1 Spoilers and Review follows.

He’s Back, But Why?

The book has a few more variant covers in addition to the above.

Plus the main cover.

The book opens with Vengeance in hell where readers learn…

…about his backstory.

Ultimately, fellow captive Skinner helps him become…

…Vengeance again and…

…we get a jailbreak in style.

They bring Hellgate with them and are attacked…

…but Vengeance makes short work of them…

…to Hellgate’s surprise.

We later learn that Vengeance will make Hellgate live up to his name…

…as they open a Hellgate that…

…Vengeance and Skinner go through escaping hell.

In that escape, Vengeance sees his and Skinner’s lives intertwined and sees that Skinner killed his wife and child.

When they arrive in modern day New York City, Vengeance tells Skinner what he saw and what he knows and a short battle ensues whose upshot is Skinner goes back to hell.

What’s next for a returned Vengeance?

The Pulse:

It was nice to see Vengeance back, but this felt like a typical escape from hell story. It didn’t feel fresh. It felt dated, but the art was ok. Sadly, a 4 out of 10.
