6 titles this week and 1 tpb.

  • Dark Nights Death Metal #7
  • Generations: Shattered #1
  • Future State: The Flash #1
  • Future State: The Next Batman #1
  • Future State: Wonder Woman #1
  • Star Wars The High Republic #1
  • Bloodshot 50 Project TPB

I’m picking up more Future State than I expected. Flash was a forgone conclusion due to Wally West, but with Tim Fox as Batman and Yara Flor as Wonder Girl carrying over into Infinite Frontier, the Next Batman & Wonder Woman seem like our first looks into those characters even if this is an alternate timeline future(s). High Republic appears hot due to a recent Star Wars / Disney + announcement; already sold out at distributor and hasn’t shelves yet. Bloodshot remains a fave of mine, so, am strongly thinking of picking it up; the ($9.99 price point isn’t too scary).

Eternals #1 – I remember when there was so much hype for the Neil Gaiman Eternals series, and it didn’t amount to much. It’s weird that Marvel is giving this such a big push once again, with like 75 variant covers, but I guess there’s a film or TV show or something coming. I’m excited about it though, because Kieron Gillen does great work on under-utilized characters, and Esad Ribic’s work is usually gorgeous.

This week I’m also getting new issues of Crossover, Fire Power, Guardians of the Galaxy, Hellions, Iron Man, Miles Morales: Spider-Man, Star Wars, Thor, and X-Factor.

I don’t really know what the deal with Future State is, so I’m mostly going to ignore it. Is this just a couple months of Elseworlds-type stories so DC can get ahead on their books? Is this supposed to be a blueprint they’re working towards in their titles? I’ve stopped reading a lot of comics press, due to not having the time, and since DC doesn’t have a section in Previews, I’m constantly confused by them. I am going to get the Legion issues, because I saw they’re being written by Bendis, and he writes the regular title. I guess I’ll figure it out then…
