Marvel Comics and King In Black: Thunderbolts #1 Spoilers and Review follows.

A Suicide Squad Is Needed…

…Now More Than Ever…

…As A Spider-Man Icon Returns!

Mayor Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin has created a new Thunderbolts team to deal with the threat of Knull in King in Black to protect New York City.

He’s a ruthless operator…

…who won’t tolerate dissension among these criminals.

He also will require them to go maskless as they are “heroes” now in the employ of the Mayor of NYC.

One of the team is eaten by dragon symbiote…

…as dissension rears its ugly head on the battle field with one team member murdering another.

Rhino also has had enough and Taskmaster just lets him go (for now?).

The team see the Defenders in battle and…

…instead of helping them they skulk around them hoping not to be seen.

Looks like the deceased team member that Mister Fear killed earlier in the issue has been taken over by a symbiote and killed again by him!

The book ends with the team encountering Norman Osborn aka the Green Goblin in the issue’s cliffhanger page.

The Pulse:

I like this line-up particularly Taskmaster, Rhino and Star as well as being in the employ of the Mayor of New York City Wilson Fisk aka The Kingpin (of Crime). The book channels the vibe of another all-time fave team of mine DC Comics’ Suicide Squad. The Thunderbolts don’t feel like the T-Bolts to me without Citizen V and/or Hawkeye, but this incarnation may grow on me. Ok art for the debut of this 3 issue mini-series or micro-series? Anyhow, 7 out of 10.
