Marvel Comics and Children Of The Atom #1 Spoilers and Review follows.
Who and Why Are X-Men’s New Teen Titans?
The book has a few more variant covers in addition the above.
Plus the main cover.
We open with a dramatis personae of the core characters of these new teen X-Men.
The first 1/2 of the book is the team fighting and defeating a new team called Hell’s Belles featuring Briquette, Tremolo, Flambé and Vague.
Then, the X-Men confront the team with a team that looks like it includes Pixie, Magma and Maggot.
They ask why they didn’t respond to the call that summoned mutants to Krakoa.
They allege the got the call, but were busy in school, etc.
The X-Men leave them, but the leadership have some discussions about what to do with the kids; they will reach out again, but this time with Storm.
The book ends with the kids leaving their families…
…ready to take the X-Men up on their offer.
They don their costumes and get ready to…
…walk through the gate to Krakoa, but…
…it rejects them…
…leaving them alone and on their own?!
Is it possible that a book titled Children of the Atom doesn’t include mutants?
The Pulse:
An over-sized issue with a compelling story and solid art. More questions than answers to end the debut issue. I am intrigued. 9 out of 10.
