DC Comics and The Flash #769 Spoilers and Review follows.

Gold Beetle Returns As Wally West The Flash…

…Explores Infinite Frontier In Future and Past!

Wally West, the Flash, is stick in Impulse’s body in the future and…

…is “saved” by a returning Gold Beetle from…

…a giant Dominator alien; we also get an inverse of the usual Doctor Who gag about the inside of the Tardis.

Gold Beetle hacks into Wally’s communication device to the past and realizes Wally West is in Bart Allen’s body; so she must “see” him as the kid Bart Allen, so smaller, but readers see him as an adult for visual reasons I suppose.

As they banter, she laughs his idea that he’s going to be retiring when he had back home and notes he has at least five (5) more Crisises to deal with before we calls it quits; so, looks like DC can laugh at itself too not just BBC pop culture properties.

They play back what made the Dominator so huge…

…a Speed Force burst from Impulse; if the power is not siphoned off from the Dominator he will explode.

Wally and Barry decide to have the latter put a weapon Inertia used on him to siphon off the power…

…it will be left in a time capsule of sorts in the Flash Museum in the present and…

…immediately accessible…

…in the future.

Wally West has the weapon, but…

…they all realize he’s non-corporeal now and the Flash, Green Arrow and Mister Terrific in the present need to track down his body.

Wally West pitches the device into the Dominator and it seems to do the trick.

Gold Beetle will collect the weapon from inside the Dominator after her computerized helper Beets stealthily removed a metal collar from around Wally’s neck.

They say their good-byes as readers visually realize Bart Allen is back…

…as Wally West arrives in Jay Garrick’s body in the past as the Flash of the Justice Society of America (JSA)

An ending that was spoiled with the covers to Flash #770 have been out for months.

The Flash #770 arrives on shelves on May 18 / 19, 2021.

The Pulse:

A compelling story that puts Wally West at the center, but Barry Allen and his allies are still working to help get back home. Nice seeing Gold Beetle back as well as Impulse and the Golden Age Flash. Awesome art and smart to have them be divided between the two periods of time in the issue. Strong main cover, but the style of the variant covers was not to my liking and portrayed Gold Beetle as a stereotypical super-hero fangirl when she’s a heroine in her own right. Entertaining. 8.5 out of 10.
