Marvel Comics and Heroes Reborn #2 Spoilers and Review follows.

History Rewritten In Blood With Invaders In, But Avengers Out!

The book has a few more variant covers too in addition to the above.

Plus the main cover.

I get the sense this will be a Hyperion centric issue as…

…we also get a creators credits page.

We open in the past and readers quickly realize that the world didn’t need the Fantastic Four to handle the coming of Galactus and the Silver Surfer as…

…the Squadron Supreme of America’s Hyperion took care of the threat once and for all.

Hyperion is also Mark Milton, a school teacher, through which we learn of this world’s long standing mystery about what happened to Captain America after World War II.

In addition, we see Hyperion battle an amalgam of the Imperial Guard and the Brood, Impossible Man and the Beyonder, plus Ant-Man and Ultron.

We also learn that Hulk also remembers that old world so it is not just Blade, but it seems Hyperion executes the Hulk (again) to be reborn as he’s immortal.

Hyperion still obsesses about the mystery of Captain America during a sojourn to the sun.

In class, we learn more from Hyperion’s alter ego how the history has changed surrounding the Invaders.

He excuses himself to meet with a homeless veteran who he’s somehow intimidated by.

Turns out that vet is a revived…

…Captain America and new ally to Blade; it was an open question whether that hooded character was Thor as he got Mjolnir back last issue and is likely a soon-to-be ally of Blade and Cap.

We then get the Heroes Reborn checklist noting two one-shot tie-in’s also out this week.

Next week we get Heroes Reborn #3 and a focus on the Squadron Supreme of America’s speedster Blur.

The Pulse:

An intriguing issue story-wise with a good balance with action and revealing this new world, past and present, to readers. The artists were strong in their own right, but the transitions between art teams was abit jarring as the penciling styles were not complementary. An entertaining issue nonetheless. 7 out of 10.
